Denis O’Connor was born in Killarney, Ireland and moved over to Over Kellet, Carnforth as a young boy with his family to follow the work in the late 50’s. Denis left school and entered the construction industry with his father working in London, up and down the country as well as locally to gain a vast construction knowledge before going it alone in 1968.
Ian Hunt was born in Kendal and served his apprentiship with local house builders Russell Armer before leaving to start his own business in 1987.
Denis & Ian both met and played soccer together for Burton Thistle in the mid to late 80’s. In 1992 Denis asked Ian to help him convert 2 barns at Killington then they worked together on a number of projects over the following years until in November 1997 they both decided to go into full partnership keeping Denis’s name due to on going contracts and the new format for Denis O’Connor Limited was born.
From one digger and 2 vans the company has grown to own offices, workshop and a yard at Capernwray as well as several vans/wagons and a variety construction plant including fork trucks, diggers and dumpers .
To date the Company has converted 14 barns , built new houses, re-furbished altered and extended a large number of properties as well as undertaking school works and industrial projects both large and small, working closely with local architects and sub contractors wherever possible.
To summary Denis O’Connor Limited is very much a family run business with a good loyal and local workforce whose aim is quality along with job and customer satisfaction.
